I cut the tracks apart.

Postby AnTi90d » Wed Mar 03, 2010 9:32 pm

I took all of the tracks from the Dead Milkmen that were available for download as Side A and Side B and cut them apart for myself.. then I created and edited the ID3 tags to all be accurate.. then I put them into RAR files and uploaded them as a torrent on Demonoid for a friend. (Its a hell of a lot easier for me to do that than to burn them each to a CD for the guy.. He has a CD burner.. so he can do it himself.) If anyone is too lazy or time constrained to do it.. here is your chance to get them cut apart as individual MP3s. (Although it isn't a perfect job.. it is a bit more convenient to have them this way.) I also included the albums and recordings that were already individual tracks.. as well as any and all cover art that I could find. This is my entire collection of every song that I have that wasn't a part of a major studio album.

Dead Milkmen - The Old, the Rare and the Unusual

The Download Link

If anyone needs an invitation to Demonoid, just leave your email address here and I'll send it to you when I notice it.

For the albums where I found more than one copy of a track I put the best sounding version in.. I also added a few things that weren't originally in the track listing.. where I felt it was appropriate. Like, I cut out My Pal Jesus and added it to the end of Somebody Shot Sunshine.. I also put All I Want for Christmas is a Job onto that CD because I felt that it belonged with the other Christmas songs. A hearty thank you has to go out to both Joe Jack and Cult Leader Lettuce for making these tracks available.. and of course the Dead Milkmen as a whole for performing and recording them in the first place.

Bitchin'. Left a comment.

Also, I do plan to do a re-rip of the stuff that's just Side A/Side B one of these days (running some better equipment at the moment), but I have a stack of tapes on the deck waiting to be transferred first. Among those is what I am sure will be an upgrade in sound quality to the tape I have of Purgatory Beat and Wisconsin.

Also Dean, if you do the whole torrent thing and can keep a good ratio, I have a music site I can invite you to as well that you might like.

Current Projects: A stack of tapes from Timothy, will be hopefully getting those finished soon! Lotsa upgrades to things that have been circulating for a while.

Welcome to Demonoid, Mang!

You guys might want to delete your emails off of this post after I send you your invitation. Some spammers use web crawling software to sniff around for email addresses in message boards and other web sites.

I'd love to hear a cleaner version of Purgatory Beat! Thats one of my favorite ones. Although my absolute favorite one is Somebody Shot Sunshine. I just loved the energy they had when they recorded that.

Oh, and I didn't include any interviews in this except for the 1984 Christmas Message. I wasn't going for total completeness.. Just as much music as I could fit into several RAR files. I left the Christmas Message in just in case someone wanted to rip out their own My Pal Jesus. In this rip I cut off all of the stray words before and after the song so that it sounds more natural when burned to a CD and put at the end of the album.

So Astro Zombies?

Very Very Confused, It's The Dead Milkmen's Version, But Is It Them Playing? I'm Very Doubtful.

If you're referring to the version on the Rare Slab of Cow comp, if I remember what Joe said in the liner notes of the tape, it was recorded by the DM in their tour bus to 4track during the Metaphysical tour.

The Rare Slab of Cow comp was actually compiled by Joe and Brian, so all tracks on it are legit.

edit: It's low-res, but it's mostly readable. I'll have to see if I still have the liner around so I can make a better scan... lost some liners during the Atlanta flooding last summer though, so dunno.
